Clever-Clogs & the Cunning Princess is an adaptation of the traditional Russian tale, Yelena the Wise.

Clever-Clogs and the Cunning Princess together tell the story of the adventures that led to them meeting and the tricks they played on each other before they eventually married.

While guarding a tower Clever-Clogs let the Naughty Imp escape. The same Naughty Imp that later captured the Cunning Princess and locked her in his underground Palace.

Having stumbled across the underground Palace, Clever-Clogs seemingly persuades the Naughty Imp that he is in fact the Naughty Imp's son. Given the run of the Palace he is tricked by the Cunning Princess into letting her go. A series of adventures comes to a climax with a task that will result either in Clever-Clogs claiming the Princess as his bride - or else in him losing his head!

A particular dynamic of the story is the competition between Clever-Clogs and the Cunning Princess to present their versions of what happened.

The production will be playing in schools from October 2008 and will be available for theatres from the beginning of 2009.

The production is for children aged 5 - 11 and their families.
