Nothing-At-All climbs the tree Croglin Village Hall was packed to capacity last Saturday afternoon for Multi Story Theatre's production of "The Magician's Daughter".  Although aimed primarily at a young  audience this fast and exciting story of forbidden love, cross cultural mis-understanding and the ultimate triumph of love over all adversity had many lessons for adults and children alike. Simple issues like how memory plays tricks on us were tumbled together with environmental themes of man against machine and the caring and healing power of the personal touch. And, in true cliff hanger fashion, the question that had been on the hushed audience's lips from the earliest scene was finally and satisfyingly resolved in the last, just in time to bring a sob to the throat and a tear to the eye.

Multi Story's ability to work effectively yet simply on many levels will secure them a place in the heart of young folk who will be the bedrock of future theatre audiences. Full credit must be given to the "Highlights" rural touring scheme and Croglin Village Hall for staging this wonderful show. Peter Dicken
