press release

A traditional tale given a magical makeover.

Children's entertainment doesn't always have to be about sound and fury and instant adrenalin. Tattercoats has a power and an intensity that captivates children of 5 and over (and adults too) at quite a different level.

Tattercoats is a young girl who lives in a castle surrounded by the sea. Ignored by her grandfather and bullied by the cooks, she makes friends with a young boy who teaches her how to fly a kite and how to dance like the wind. She dreams of what it might be like to fly away across the sea, never thinking that her dream might come true…. Then one day an invitation arrives to a Royal Ball and her longing to find out what lies beyond the sea proves irresistible.

multi story theatre company work their magic on this tender tale of love and adventure, weaving together songs and music from the Far East, alongside their trademark physicality and simple computer animation, in a quite breathtaking way.

multi story have travelled the world with their acclaimed re-tellings of traditional tales.  From deepest Devon to the highest peaks of Peru, children and their families delight in the way that multi story "play - genuinely play - with the lack of self-consciousness of five-year olds and the theatrical skill of seasoned pros". Tattercoats will be performed in Canada during 2007.

Suitable for audiences aged 5 and above.
