workshop programmes...
Often we accompany school performances with play-making workshops that explore basic literacy skills through the physical process of developing a scenario - making an impact, developing a story-line, finding a 'cliff-hanger'. And we provide inset sessions to help teachers to take the work further themselves over a sustained period.
We also provide a range of theatre-skills workshops for schools and colleges that include physical theatre, devising, vocal work and approaches to acting centred around Stanislavski, Brecht and Artaud.
sustained projects...
We worked with Warwick Arts Centre over a five year period to develop original pieces of work by Primary School children in and around Coventry. We developed scripts with the children, providing them with the tools to shape their ideas. We helped them to reach new levels of confidence in their physical and vocal abilities. And we encouraged them to embrace the self-discipline and the team-work inherent in theatre-making.
With the North Devon Theatres Trust we developed remarkable re-workings of A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth. Each of these productions involved around 50 Primary School children, 20 Secondary School pupils and a dozen College students. With the full technical resources of the Landmark Theatre, and the enthusiastic support of the professional staff, the productions were a theatrical feast as well as an exciting practical introduction to Shakespeare for the Primary School children.
"In the workshop that followed, the children began to find the potential of their own imaginations and drama skills.
multi story is very experienced at working in schools; they know the day-to-day pressures and plan their work and manner
appropriately. We recommend this company unreservedly."
